A multinational IT services and consulting company, Cognizant was founded as an in-house technology unit of Dun & Bradstreet, an American provider of commercial data, analytics, and insights for businesses, in 1994. After a period of the unprecedented growth during the 2000s, Cognizant became a Fortune 500 company in 2011.
The leading RPA vendor, UiPath, recognized Cognizant as a Global Growth Partner 2021 for its efforts in shifting to intelligent automation by leveraging UiPath’s platform and products such as Process Mining, Task Mining, Document Understanding & AI Center, and Testing Suite with a focus on solutions and capabilities for scaling client’s automation programs.
- After the foundation in 1994, Cognizant, as an in-house technology unit of Dun & Bradstreet, started serving external clients only two years later, in 1996.
- During the dotcom bust, the company grew by taking on the maintenance projects that larger IT services companies did not want. As a result, Cognizant experienced a period of fast growth during the 2000s, as reflected by its appearance in Fortune magazine’s “100 Fastest-Growing Companies” list for ten consecutive years from 2003 to 2012.
- In September 2014, Cognizant struck its biggest deal, acquiring healthcare IT services provider TriZetto Corp for $2.7 billion.
- In 2021, Cognizant was recognized by Everest Group as the best company on the Intelligent Automation in Healthcare – Solutions PEAK Matrix®.
